Reflection:
Planning is the most important portion of success in the classroom. I firmly believe that being prepared communicates respect to the students. When teachers are unprepared it shows a lack of respect to the students. Without a plan, one is planning to fail.

Lesson plans should be well thought out and have accounted for several different factors. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to ensure that each lesson is relevant to the subject matter, students, community and curriculum goals.

It is important to take these four elements into consideration when planning instruction. Thoughtful planning based on these elements can lead to a more meaningful lesson or more enriching instruction. It is important to remember who the students are and the community that they are a part of when planning instruction because the information needs to be made relevant to the students in order for it to have value.

Careful planning and preparation are vital elements of teaching. Without planning and preparation instruction is poor quality and does not account for the curriculum goals, subject matter, students or community.
