Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact
INTASC #_____5______
• Brief Description of Evidence:
This artifact is a classroom management plan that I
created during student teaching. I revised this plan several times and this
was the plan that seemed to work the best in my classroom. I included a
rewards system and a set of consequences. At the end of the plan the
students must agree to the expectations and sign their name. I believe that
this gives the students a sense of accountability.
• Analysis of What I Learned:
Throughout the creation of this classroom management
plan I learned several important things. First, I learned that it is
acceptable to revise the classroom management plan during the school year if
the current one is not working well. I also learned that it is important to
be clear and concise when writing classroom expectations, rules and
consequences so that the students know exactly what is expected of them. It
is important to be consistent in following the management plan so that the
students understand that they are accountable for their actions. In
addition, I discovered that having a rewards system helps positively
reinforce good behavior.
• How This Artifact Demonstrates my
Competence on the INTASC Principle:
This artifact demonstrates the ideas of classroom
management because it clearly states what is expected of the students and
the consequences or rewards of their behavior. This artifact also
demonstrates my ability to provide a motivating rewards system that will
encourage the students to uphold the classroom expectations. This management
plan also allows for flexibility in some cases, however the students are
aware of what behaviors will elicit specific consequences. This classroom
management plan sets up guidelines for a successful, productive and positive
classroom environment.
