Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact
INTASC #_____10______
• Brief Description of Evidence:
This artifact is a compilation of materials that
were created for a parent computer training night. Included in this artifact
is a flyer about the event and the project proposal. I was a part of a
committee that organized several computer lab training events that would
help parents become familiar with email and the internet. The goal of the
project was to inspire parents to communicate with their child's teachers
and to reach out to parents who need assistance with technology.
• Analysis of What I Learned:
I learned that it is important to reach out to
parents and provide assistance where needed. Communication is a vital part
of any student's success and encouraging more parents to communicate with
teachers was an important goal. I learned that it is important to extend
one's role as a teacher beyond the classroom and work with the community.
The community is a vital part of the school, therefore it is important to
take an active interest in both the community and school.
• How This Artifact Demonstrates my
Competence on the INTASC Principle:
This artifact
demonstrates the community and relationships principle because it focuses on
community involvement and interaction. The committee that I worked with on
this project organized these sessions with a specific intent of directly
helping community members. In specific we were trying to reach parents and
inspire them to communicate with teachers. This artifact shows that I am
capable of extending my role as a teacher beyond the classroom. I believe
that it is important to contribute to the community and have a working
relationship with community members.
